The game’s major gameplay is the same, just like the previous Mortal Kombat games in which two characters battle against each other using their powers and physical attacks. The perspectives consist of two different segments, one from the DC Universe side and one from the Mortal Kombat side, each split up into multiple chapters, depending on the player chosen. The game features a story mode that is playable from two different perspectives. It contains both DC Universe and Mortal Kombat characters, and the player can choose any character to show his fighting skills.
